ORTHODOX UNION PRESIDENT JOINS OTHER JEWISH LEADERS IN MEETING WITH VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN TO DISCUSS PLIGHT OF JONATHAN POLLARD

The following statement was issued today in conjunction with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations

A delegation of Jewish leaders met yesterday with Vice President Biden to present and discuss their concerns regarding the continued incarceration of Jonathan Pollard.

The Vice President invited the group in response to their earlier request for a meeting.

They described the meeting and exchange as meaningful and productive.

Those in attendance included: Michael Adler, a community leader from Miami, Florida; Abraham Foxman, National Director, Anti-Defamation League; Rabbi Steve Gutow, President and CEO, Jewish Council for Public Affairs; Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman, Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations; Dr. Simcha Katz, President, Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America; Rabbi Julie Schonfeld, Executive Vice President, Rabbinical Assembly; and Rabbi Eric Yoffie, President, Union for Reform Judaism.
