OU/IPA JOINS IN ADVOCACY FOR CLERGY “PARSONAGE” ALLOWANCE

Posted on April 5, 2012 In Blog

OU/IPA Executive Director Nathan Diament is serving as a “religious sector representative” to the Senate appointed Commission on Accountability and Policy for Religious Organizations.  This Commission is reviewing the federal tax laws and regulations that govern religious nonprofits in the United States and will make recommendations to the U.S. Senate for possible changes to those laws.  One policy under review is the “parsonage” housing allowance available to clergy.

Nathan Diament recently joined with representatives of other Jewish community sectors to file a position paper on this important policy with the Commission.  That paper is accessible here: OU-IPA JOINS IN ADVOCACY FOR CLERGY PARSONAGE ALLOWANCE
