On Friday, December 6, more than 20 teens, who were in Harrisburg, PA, for NCSY’s Mid-Atlantic regional convention, visited the Pennsylvania state house and lobbied for anti-bullying legislation at a meeting with State Representative Patty Kim. The teens had a chance to share personal experiences about the effects that bullying can have. They also met with State Senator Rob Teplitz to discuss civic engagement and partake in a question-answer session, where they discussed how Senator Teplitz got involved in politics to his legislative agenda and what his legislative priorities are for the upcoming year. Michelle Twersky, OU Advocacy’s Associate Regional Director for Pennsylvania, coordinated and facilitated the meetings with both Rep. Kim and Sen. Teplitz and also conducted a brief training for the teens prior to their meeting with the elected officials.
