FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization, commended Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Dean Heller (R-NV) for their introduction of the Jerusalem Embassy and Recognition Act of 2015. The bill calls for the United States to recognize Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel and for the President to implement the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, moving the United States’ embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. “It is long past due for our government to finally and unequivocally recognize Israel’s historical capital both in word and deed,” announced Senator Cruz.

“The holy city of Jerusalem has always been, and must remain, the indivisible capital of Israel,” said Nathan Diament, the Orthodox Union’s Executive Director for Public Policy. “This legislation will ensure the United States treats Israel’s capital city with the proper recognition it deserves.”
