Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations Commends Senate Passage of Resolution Condemning Hezbollah & Hamas and Supporting Israel’s Right to Self-defense; Urges House of Representatives To Pass Similar Bill Today.

Today, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (UOJCA) applauded the U.S. Senate’s passage of S. Res. 534, “A resolution condemning Hezbollah and Hamas and their state sponsors and supporting Israel’s exercise of its right to self-defense,” and urged the House of Representatives to express its support for Israel in a similarly resounding fashion today. The House bill, H. Res. 921, is sponsored by House Majority Leader Boehner and Representatives Hyde and Lantos.

UOJCA Director of Public Policy Nathan Diament stated:

“We commend the Senate for passage of this important legislation, particularly Majority Leader Bill Frist and the many cosponsors. We urge the House of Representatives to move expeditiously on their resolution as well. In the midst of the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, it is vital that Congress clearly reiterate its support for America’s only democratic ally in the Middle East, Israel.”
