OU Advocacy Center Welcomes Opening of 2025 NSGP Applications

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Orthodox Union Advocacy Center (OUA) welcomes the Department of Homeland Security’s announcement today, opening up the application period for the federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP).

DHS announced that $274.5 million is available through the NSGP to help nonprofits enhance their physical security, from installing cameras and reinforced doors to hiring security personnel.

OU Advocacy helped launch the NSGP in 2005, and the program has since helped thousands of faith-based institutions enhance their security. The applications this year are particularly urgent with the explosive rise in antisemitism and the High Holidays approaching.

Applications from state Homeland Security offices are due to FEMA by August 11, 2025. Each state will then open its own application process for local nonprofits to apply. With the High Holidays approaching and threats to Jewish communities rising, we urge every eligible institution to begin preparing now—these grants can help save lives.

“With the High Holidays approaching and threats to Jewish communities rising, this funding is more important than ever,” said Nathan Diament, Executive Director of the Orthodox Union Advocacy Center. “We urge every eligible Jewish institution to apply. These grants can help save lives.

“We at Orthodox Union Advocacy are very grateful to our allies in the Trump Administration—especially Amb.-Designate Kaploun and the White House Faith Office—for working to get this critical funding released. We also thank our allies in Congress—especially Senators Lankford, Britt, and Collins.”
