Reps. Howard Berman and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the Chairman and Ranking Member respectively of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced today that they have established a bipartisan Working Group tasked with overseeing and verifying implementation of Iran sanctions. The Working Group is expected to meet with experts, diplomats and members of the Obama Administration regarding the Iran sanctions signed into law on July 1 by President Obama.

We commend Chairman Berman and Rep. Ros-Lehtinen for their initiative in establishing this Working Group. Sanctions against Iran are a critical tool in ensuring that Tehran, which has publicly declared its animosity toward Israel and the United States, not be allowed to reach nuclear capability.
