Action Alert! Urge Your Representatives to Support the Jerusalem Resolution

H.CON.RES.152, a resolution “relating to the 40th anniversary of the reunification of the City of Jerusalem,” which was recently introduced in the US House of Representatives, would send a clear message to the Administration that it is time to move the US embassy in Israel to its rightful place in Jerusalem.

Take Action Now- Send a clear message to your elected leaders in Congress to support this important resolution.

The resolution has been approved by the House Foreign Affairs Committee and is expected to be voted on by the full House next week. The resolution was introduced by Rep. Tom Lantos, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Ranking Member on the Committee among other cosponsors.

The House Concurrent Resolution which “commends Israel for its administration of the undivided city of Jerusalem for the past 40 years, during which Israel has respected the rights of all religious groups” also calls on President Bush to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.

POINTS FOR EMPHASIS
– Just as the United States locates its embassy in the duly designated capitals of other nations, so too it should locate our embassy to Israel in that nation’s recognized capital.
– This legislation urges the Administration not to invoke the Waiver contained in the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, and immediately begin to implement the provisions of the act
– The House Bill asserts that Jerusalem must remain an undivided city in which the rights of every ethnic and religious group are protected as they have been by Israel during the past 40 years.
