ACTION ALERT:
CONTACT YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS NOW! PROTECT FUNDING FOR PENNSYLVANIA’S YESHIVAS AND DAY SCHOOLS
Contact your legislators now! $35 million in tuition assistance is in danger
June 4, 2009
The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (“the Orthodox Union”) is gravely concerned over a potential budget cut for the state of Pennsylvania that will remove as much as $35 million in tax-credit funding to all schools in the state from the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.
With Pennsylvania facing a difficult budget year with a nearly $2 billion deficit to try to alleviate, EITC is a prime target for politicians looking to trim down the coming year’s budget proposal. The REACH Foundation reports the new budget could cut the EITC allocation by $35 million, from $75 million to $40 million.
At this time of economic crisis, parents and children should not be expected to accept less and pay more. Tell your legislators that enough is enough!
Please click here NOW to be directed to REACH Foundation’s “Grassroots Action Center” and tell your state Senator and/or Assemblyman to provide fair and equal treatment to all children in Pennsylvania schools.
