Jersey City officials and an official from the Israeli consulate in New York gathered in City Hall yesterday to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel.

Mayor Steve Fulop said the late former Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham was the first mayor to raise the Israeli flag over City Hall.

“It really speaks to Mayor Cunningham’s love for every community,” Fulop said.
