Washington, D.C. — The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (Orthodox Union), the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization, applauds the U.S. Senate and President Biden for their swift action in passing and signing urgently needed military aid for Israel and security funding for our yeshivas and synagogues.

The historic bill, signed into law on Wednesday, sends $14.3 billion in much-needed wartime assistance to Israel, bolstering its efforts to defeat Hamas and defend its civilians from rocket attacks. This marks the largest U.S. security aid package in Israel’s history.

It also contains $400 million for the life-saving Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), which provides needed security funding for our schools and houses of worship. The NSGP will help Jewish schools and synagogues protect their communities in a time of unprecedented antisemitism and violence.

Nathan Diament stated:

“The Orthodox Union thanks President Biden, Speaker Johnson, Leader Schumer, Minority Leader Jeffries, and all bipartisan lawmakers for reaffirming the United States’ unwavering support for Israel, our greatest ally. We also applaud the inclusion of $400 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, providing life-saving security resources for our schools and synagogues.”
