ORTHODOX JEWISH COMMUNITY MEETS CONGRESSMAN LEONARD LANCE
Orthodox Union facilitates key meeting in New Jersey

Congressman Leonard Lance (R-NJ-7) recently met in Springfield, New Jersey with representatives of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (the “Orthodox Union”), the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization and local Orthodox community leaders. The meeting took place at the home of Rabbi Chaim and Leah Marcus; the rabbi of OU member synagogue, Congregation Israel.

Congressman Lance, first elected in November, heard from these leaders concerns regarding the U.S.-Israel relationship, the Iranian nuclear threat, homeland security grants for vulnerable non-profits, the increasing burden of day school education costs, and the proposed Workplace Religious Freedom Act.

This meeting is part of a nationwide effort by the Orthodox Union’s Institute for Public Affairs to facilitate discussion between our synagogue leadership and their elected officials.
