WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Orthodox Union Advocacy Center (OUA) and the Teach Coalition celebrated the inclusion of the first federal school choice program in the House-passed One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) this afternoon. The House vote will send the bill to President Trump, who is expected to sign it into law. |
The Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) is the most significant federal action ever taken to make private education more affordable for American families. It creates a 100% federal tax credit for donations to scholarship granting organizations that will disseminate scholarships that can be used at private and faith-based schools. “The OBBB is big and complicated, but one thing is simple: the largest ever federal school choice program is about to be signed into law by President Trump,” said Nathan Diament, Executive Director of OU Advocacy. “This has been an OU Advocacy goal for decades, and we will continue to work to make sure every Jewish child can access an affordable Jewish education.” “The federal school choice program is national validation for the battle that we have been fighting in statehouses across the country,” said Sydney Altfield, Teach Coalition national director. “The fight doesn’t end with the passing of the bill. States must opt into the program, and we are positioned to lead that effort.” For more information about the Orthodox Union Advocacy Center and its initiatives, visit: https://advocacy.ou.org. |
