ORTHODOX UNION APPLAUDS SENATOR MCCAIN’S SUPPORT FOR SCHOOL CHOICE

Today, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America – the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization – applauded Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain for his strong support for school choice programs.

Speaking at the annual NAACP convention, Senator McCain called for giving parents the right to choose what kind of school their children attend, be it public, private or charter.

Nathan J. Diament, director of public policy for the UOJCA stated:

The OU has long been an advocate of school choice programs. We believe that giving parents the ability to send their children to the schools that best fits the needs of their children will enable the children to get the best possible education that they all need and deserve. We applaud Senator McCain for his strong support on this issue.
