Tell Congress to Fully Fund the Nonprofit Security Grant Program

The House and Senate are currently negotiating the FY2026 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill, including funding levels for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP).

NSGP provides critical funding to synagogues, Jewish schools, and other at-risk nonprofit institutions for physical security improvements such as cameras, access controls, and reinforced entryways as well as funds for contract security guards.

In FY2025, NSGP was funded at $274.5 million. That amount was inadequate. More than half of eligible security grant applications were denied solely due to lack of available funding.

The House proposal includes $335 million for NSGP. While this represents an increase, it still falls short of documented demand and does not reflect the current threat environment. Final funding levels will be determined as House and Senate negotiators reconcile their bills.

OU Advocacy is urging Congress to fully fund NSGP at $500 million to ensure that security resources meet the demand and hostile climate.

Please take a moment to sign our action alert and send a letter to your representatives urging full funding for NSGP.
