Dear Recipient's Title and Name:
I respectfully urge you to co-sponsor the Fair Treatment of Israel in Product Labeling Act of 2016. S. 2474 was introduced this week by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark) to override a Jan. 23 notice by U.S. Customs to prohibit labeling goods that come from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as "made in Israel."
The Administration's directive unfairly targets Israel, reviving a 1995 order to label goods made in the disputed areas. It also threatens enforcement actions against those who don't comply. The directive comes on the heels of the European Union's Nov. 2015 issuing of guidelines to place "made in settlements" labels on some Israeli products originating in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Golan Heights.
I hope you will co-sponsor the Fair Treatment of Israel in Product Labeling Act of 2016 and stand against efforts that delegitimize Israel.
Sincerely,
Your Full Name
