Dear Recipient's Title and Name:
The violent antisemitic attack at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas ended peacefully but we know from experience that this is not the norm.
I am writing to ask you to protect Jewish Americans from vicious attacks like this by increasing funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), administered by the Department of Homeland Security, to $360 million in the new fiscal year.
NSGP is currently funded at $180 million, but application requests in recent years have exceeded $400 million. The need is real. According to recent FBI hate crimes reports, incidents targeting American Jews account for over 60% of all reported hate crimes – a shocking statistic that rises every year.
I urge you to fund the Nonprofit Security Grant Program at $360 million for FY 2022 to ensure that all Americans can pray safely in their houses of worship. You will be protecting millions of Jewish Americans from antisemitic and terrorist attacks.
Sincerely,
Your Full Name
