I am writing to you today to urge you to support the omnibus appropriations package which contains critical items for our American Jewish community, our ally Israel and more.
Recently, we witnessed the violent antisemitic attack at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas. Thankfully, the incident came to a peaceful end with the help of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers but it’s not always the case. The omnibus package significantly increases DHS/FEMA’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) from $180 million to $250 million; these grants will help safeguard Jewish Americans from vicious attacks like this and protect other at-risk communities around our country.
The life-saving Iron Dome missile defense system has saved many innocent Israelis from harm during the recent rocket assault by Gaza-based terrorists, in which Hamas launched over 4,000 rockets directly into civilian centers over a two-week period. The omnibus contains funding to replenish Israel’s defenses. Please vote to help fund this system and protect our ally, Israel.
Lastly, this legislation includes essential funding to aid the Ukrainian people suffering under violent Russian military attack. They need our support, as do the nearly 2 million refugees fleeing the warzone.
Please vote for this bill which will protect at-risk American nonprofits and faith communities, provide defensive support to our ally, Israel, and support humanitarian relief for those in harm’s way in Ukraine.
