March 8 marks two years since 28-year-old Vanderbilt University graduate student and U.S. Army officer Taylor Force, on a class trip to Israel, was stabbed to death by a Palestinian terrorist. His death prompted bipartisan legislation, the Taylor Force Act (S.1697), to end U.S. economic assistance to the Palestinian Authority until it ceases using the funds to pay financial stipends and bonuses to terrorists who kill Americans and Israelis – as well as providing lifetime benefits to the terrorists’ families.
This practice of ‘pay-for-slay’ is codified in detail in Palestinian law. In 2017, the PA allocated $344 million in payments for tens of thousands of terrorists and their families from a dedicated, decades-old ‘martyrs’ fund; the greater the violence, the greater the financial reward. The U.S. Senate is expected to vote soon on the Taylor Force Act. The U.S. House and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee already have passed versions of the bill.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) introduced the bill last year, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has given it his strong support. Just days ago, Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) and 62 other members of the House sent a bipartisan letter to the Senate leadership urging the bill’s immediate passage. (Watch Sens.
