Dear Recipient's Title and Name:
I am writing to ask you to sign the bipartisan letter by Reps. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-N.J.) and Daniel Donovan (R-N.Y.) requesting that the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee to increase funding from $21 to $25 million for the Urban Area Security Initiative Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) in the FY2017 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill.
Since its creation in 2005, the NSGP has provided over $120 million in grants that have improved the security of nonprofit organizations considered to be at risk and vulnerable to terrorist attack. The NSGP has been used at nonprofit organizations in communities such as ours to acquire and install necessary fencing and lighting, video surveillance and X-ray and metal detectors, and reinforced or blast-resistant doors, locks, and windows. Such protective measures make our nonprofit organizations--and the populations they serve--safer and better able to withstand potential terrorist threats.
The Pascrell-Donovan letter asks Chairman John Carter (R-Texas) and Ranking Member Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Calif.) to consider these nonprofit organizations when crafting the FY2017 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill. On behalf of at-risk nonprofit organizations in our community and throughout the United States, I respectfully request that you support strengthening the NSGP by signing this letter.
The deadline for signing this letter is March 18, 2016. To add your signature, please contact Dylan Sodaro in Rep. Pascrell, Jr.'s office at Dylan.Sodaro@mail.house.gov or Chris Del Beccaro in Rep. Donovan's office at Chris.DelBeccaro@mail.house.gov.
Sincerely,
