This week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the recipients of the 2016 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). Your school and/or synagogue were one of the organizations that received a $75,000 grant under this program.
Since its creation in 2005, the NSGP has provided over $120 million in grants that have improved the security of nonprofit organizations. The NSGP has been used acquire and install necessary fencing and lighting, video surveillance and X-ray and metal detectors, and reinforced or blast-resistant doors, locks, and windows. Such protective measures make our nonprofit organizations–and the populations they serve–safer and better able to withstand potential terrorist threats.
In FY2016, the NSGP was funded at $20 million. Please take a moment to thank your Senator and Representative for their support of the 2016 NSGP, and to urge them to continue to fund this important program.
