Please urge Governor Chris Christie to increase funding in his upcoming fiscal year 2016-17 budget to help pay for nursing aid and technology in non-public schools. Traditionally, each non-public school student receives only a small amount of funding from the State of New Jersey for educational programs and services, far below the $20,000 average cost to New Jersey taxpayers for each public school student. In the current budget, that already small amount of funding was reduced. Our children’s safety and need for basic learning tools are no less important than those who attend public school and reductions in funding mean our students could be forced to do without the services necessary to succeed, including needs as simple as a school nurse and a computer. I urge you to TAKE ACTION NOW and call on Governor Christie to increase funding in the upcoming budget to fiscal year 2014-15 levels and to refund the money cut from the budget last year.
