Bibi Asks US Jews to Dispel the Darkness

10 leaders of the Orthodox Union joined several hundred other American Jewish leaders at the 92nd St. Y in New York last night to hear from Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Bibi was movingly introduced by Elie Wiesel and related early advice he received from the Lubavitcher Rebbe about dealing with the UN:

The Rebbe told the then newly-appointed ambassador of Israel to the UN that he was dealing with a house of lies, a house of darkness, but also told him that just one candle can light up an entirely dark room. One who speaks the truth can dispel the darkness of lies.

PM Netanyahu then appealed to all American Jews to join in this effort and, metaphorically, when they light the candles to sanctify Yom Kippur this Sunday night, light a third candle – commit to supporting Israel, and dispelling the darkness and lies that are cast against her. We should all light that candle.
