A Bracha for the Governor

Philadelphia Rabbi Solomon Isaacson is pictured – in the words of the Philly Inquirer – “pronouncing a blessing on Governor Ed Rendell during his inauguration ceremony for a second term.

Founded by William Penn, a Quaker who knew too well about religious persecution, Pennsylvania was intended as a model of religious freedom – or at least, tolerance for others whose religious practice differed. We imagine he might be smiling if he looked down yesterday at that sight.
