Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Shapiro addressed the US-Israel relationship today at the Brookings Saban Center for Middle East Policy. “The U.S.-Israel security relationship is too important to be anything less than a top priority,” declared the Assistant Secretary (as per prepared remarks), in a speech about about joint military cooperation, Iron Dome financing and the Obama administration’s overall approach to maintaining Israel’s security. “As surely as the bond between the United States and Israel is unbreakable, our commitment to Israel’s qualitative military edge has never been greater.”
