Education Tax Credits Saving Money

The CATO Institute has recently released a report detailing a study in which they created a model bill to provide education tax credits for 5 different states. The study found that over a 10-year period, the states would save between $1.1 and 15.9 billion. Additionally, with this type of program in place, as students leave failing public schools, the study predicts that the per-student spending in the public schools would increase over the same period. You can check out the full report, along with a “Fiscal Impact Calculator” tool, to apply the study’s findings for your state here.
