Georgia Legislature to Vote on School Vouchers

The Florida Times-Union reports – School-voucher legislation talked about for years by supporters of school choice finally reaches a critical milestone next week when it comes up for the first legislative vote in decades.

Sen. Eric Johnson, R-Savannah, sponsored Senate Bill 90 and is expected to use it as the basis of his campaign for lieutenant governor next year.
Polls show overwhelming support among the public but little enthusiasm among professional educators.

Opponents are lobbying against it right up until the Senate vote. The latest, a business-related education group, took a stand against it Tuesday.
