Yesterday evening, Senator Benjamin L. Cardin,Representative Debbie Wasserman Shultz, the Mayor of Washington DC and 48 members of Congress hosted the Jewish American Heritage Month May 2007 Kickoff Reception and Exhibit in the Russell Senate building. At the event, members of the IPA staff had the privilege to view the exhibit: A Scrapbook of an American Community. The exhibit chronicles the Jewish community of Washington for more than two centuries.
Yesterday, the President officially proclaimed May 2007 as Jewish American Heritage Month and urged all Americans “to observe this month with appropriate programs and activities to honor Jewish Americans across the country.” To read President Bush’s proclamation, click here.
