Perhaps not trusting the Israeli post office, Shas chairman Eli Yishai hand delivered to President Bush two letters, one from Shas leader Rav Ovadia Yosef, and the other from the wife of imprisoned Israeli spy, Jonathan Pollard, urging President Bush to pardon him. Bush also recieved a letter from former Sephardic Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu urging Bush to refrain from “any course of action that would harm the Jewish nation.”
