The OU was at the table in Foggy Bottom last week as Secy of State Rice met with a group of Jewish community leaders.

Although the meeting was “off the record,” as Avot teaches us, nothing goes unrecorded, or in Washington’s case, leaked — so the JTA has a rather accurate account of the point the very impressive Dr. Rice made.

As the report conveys, Dr. Rice was most forceful — and reassuring — when she stated that she is not about to “cave” on her fundamental commitment to Israel’s security and has no intention to “pressure” Israel to make any kind of concessions that Israel is not prepared to make.
