In the wake of September 11th and explicit terror threats against Jewish institutions, the OU Advocacy Center joined with the Jewish Federations of North America and other Jewish community groups to spearhead the creation of the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). The NSGP delivers federal financial aid to nonprofits to upgrade the physical security of their facilities. Since its creation, OU Advocacy and our partners have secured more than $100 million in security grants—the majority of which has gone to Jewish community institutions.

For 2013, $10 million has been allocated to the grant program, providing awards of up to $75,000 per eligible non-profit institution. Support is available for target hardening and other physical security enhancements and activities, for nonprofit organizations deemed to be both at “high risk” for a terrorist attack, and located within specific eligible urban areas.

The deadline for the 2013 grant program is rapidly approaching. Most states have set the application deadline as June 10th.
