Obama Acknowledges Reality

We noted yesterday the absurdity that the Palestinians want the United States to serve as their proxy in peace negotiations with Israel.

Today we see statements from President Barack Obama, in an anniversary interview with TIME, acknowledging (some might say, finally) that his Administration’s approach to dealing with the Israeli-Arab conflict have not worked out.

The President states (much to interviewer Joe Klein’s consternation, no doubt) that:

“[I]f we had anticipated some of these political problems on both sides earlier, we might not have raised expectations as high.”

The President commits to continuing to work toward peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians, but maybe this is a public signal that he will be re-tooling his team’s approach.

Stay tuned.
