Obama & the Catholics

Just because it is so interesting to see how other faith communities grapple with issues of engagement with the world, we draw your attention to the very interesting discussion the Catholic community is engaged in over the University of Notre Dame’s invitation to President Obama to deliver its commencement address this year, which the President has accepted.

Given some of the policies the President has already put in place, the invitation has generated controversy, with some defending Notre Dame’s invitation but with the local Bishop deciding not to attend altogether.

Oh, what would have happened had he been invited to and accepted an invitation from Yeshiva University.
