Orthodox Union Congratulates Governor Mike Huckabee on Senate Confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to Israel

Washington, D.C. – The Orthodox Union Advocacy Center (OUA), the public policy arm of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, applauds today’s Senate confirmation of Governor Mike Huckabee as United States Ambassador to the State of Israel.

Governor Huckabee has long demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the U.S.-Israel alliance, a deep respect for the Jewish people’s historic connection to the Land of Israel, and a clear grasp of the urgent security threats Israel faces, particularly in the wake of October 7.

“We congratulate Governor Huckabee on his confirmation and look forward to working with him to further strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship,” said Nathan Diament, Executive Director of the Orthodox Union Advocacy Center. “At a time of rising antisemitism and growing threats from Iranian-backed terror groups, it is essential to have an ambassador in Jerusalem who understands these challenges and stands firmly with Israel.”

The Orthodox Union previously submitted a letter to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in support of Governor Huckabee’s nomination, underscoring that many in the American Jewish community share his strong support for Israel and reject efforts to misrepresent his views.

“Governor Huckabee’s confirmation sends a clear and powerful message: the United States stands with Israel and the Jewish people,” Diament continued. “We are grateful for his longstanding friendship and are confident he will serve with principle, clarity, and distinction.”

The Orthodox Union is proud to have supported Governor Huckabee’s nomination and looks forward to working with him to advance shared priorities and deepen the U.S.-Israel partnership.
