The leadership of the Orthodox Union extends its congratulations to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud Party for their victory yesterday in the Israeli elections.

Once again, we can take great pride in the vigorous and open democracy that exists in the State of Israel evidenced by the open debate and record turnout in this election campaign.

With the election over, we urge all parties to work together to ensure a secure and vibrant state for all Israel’s citizens.

We call upon the leaders of other democratic nations to recognize and respect the will of the Israeli people as expressed through this election and to work constructively with the next government and Twentieth Knesset.
