Orthodox on Obama

As we noted on the day it was released, the American Jewish Committee released its informative Annual Survey of Jewish Opinion.

One of the measures of continuity in this poll, is that Orthodox Jews views are markedly different from those of others in the community. Specifically, our community tracks the views of Israelis more closely and thus has a much more negative opinion — by a margin of 74% to 17% — of President Obama’s handling of US – Israel relations.

Alongside this, it is also interesting to note the precinct results from last week’s special election to fill a congressional seat in South Florida. As noted by Shmuel Rosner – picking up data from the Solomon Project (an affiliate of the Nat’l Jewish Democratic Council) – the most Orthodox precinct in the district produced the fewest votes for the Democratic candidate.
