The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (the “Orthodox Union”), the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization, applauds Senators John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) for the introduction of the American Power Act.

This legislation offers incentives that may have potential to be beneficial to the non-profit and faith-based communities.

Last year, the Orthodox Union worked with House leadership non-profit inclusion in the American Clean Energy and Security Act (HR 2454). The final language designated funds and resources for non-profit energy efficiency upgrades.

We look forward to working with Senators Kerry and Lieberman along with Senate leadership and the greater nonprofit community to ensure equity in the Senate energy bill as well.
