OU joins with other groups to move special election date

The OU has joined with other Jewish orginizations including the Anti Defamation League, Agudath Israel of New Jersey, N.J. Association of Jewish Federations, and the American Jewish Committee in working to rescheduale a special election being held in Edison, NJ. The issue at hand is a $57.8 million school contrsuction bond, and the vote is currently schedualed to be held on September 30th, which is the first day of Rosh Hashanah this year. Additionally, NJ State Senator Barbara Buono , who represents Edison, has issued a statement that she intends to try to stop the vote from taking place by passing legislation in an emergency session of the NJ legislature. You can find Sen. Buono ‘s statement here.
