OU Meets O Team

The Orthodox Union was pleased to be among the many Jewish organizational representatives who met with senior staff of the Obama Transition Team yesterday.

The groups at the table really ranged across the spectrum and many issues of domestic and foreign policy were discussed.

We were able to amplify on some key issues that we have already submitted the OU’s views on, to the Obama Team – particularly our interest in having Jewish schools included in the economic recovery and infrastructure program being prepared, our request that the Obama Administration continue the Homeland Security department’s grants program for non-profits, and that the Obama Administration continue to protect and promote religious freedom through the work of the Department of Justice and the continuation of the “faith based initiative.”

Key issues related to Israel’s security were also discussed, including views about the Israeli-Arab conflict, the threat from Iran and more.
