The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America and the Rabbinical Council of America express their outrage at the vicious attack on the Jewish Community Center in Granada Hills, California in which a gunman attacked and wounded children and day camp staff members in what appears to be another in a shocking series of hate motivated shootings that have recently taken place in California and Chicago.

Dr. Mandell I. Ganchrow, Orthodox Union president, said, “The Orthodox Union is horrified at the occurrence of yet another violent, anti-Semitic and vicious attack. We call on all law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate and initiate proceedings to bring to justice all the perpetrators who participated in these recent violent acts against members of the Jewish and other minority communities.”

Rabbi Kenneth Hain, RCA president, said, “The civil rights of American citizens are being grossly abused. All of the violent attacks that have recently taken place in California and Chicago are acts that belie hatred and bigotry. The quality of life in American communities can be guaranteed only when our safety and security are protected. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and we wish a refuah shelaima, a speedy recovery, to all the wounded.”
