Re: Response to NATO Action in Yugoslavia
Date: April 9, 1999

We are getting calls regarding assistance for those fleeing the fighting in Yugoslavia and would like to inform you that the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) has opened a mailbox and is accepting contributions to this effort.

Aid will be provided on a non-sectarian basis. The JDC’s field staff is assessing the situation and is deciding upon the most effective ways to provide medical and other assistance. The Jewish population in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia is under JDC care as are other Yugoslav Jews who have fled.

If your members and/or constituents would like to assist the JDC in its efforts, checks may be made out the JDC marked “Kosovo Refugee Relief,” and mailed to:

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee
711 Third Avenue, 10th Floor
New York, NY 10017

Please mark the outside of your envelope “Kosovo Relief”.

Questions may be directed to Laina Richter at 212-885-0889, laina@jdcny.org or to Marcia Presky at 212-885-0832, presky@jdcny.org.

Feel free to pass this information along to any of your members who express a wish to assist in this emergency.
