It’s appropriate for Jews to mix celebration with reflection; that is what our more ancient holy days such as Pesach and Shavuot are about. We should celebrate the miracle of modern Israel with prayer and song and also serious reflection about what Israel means to us today, her future and our role in shaping that future.
