Rabbi Elie Buechler is the Director of Programs & Associate Director for Interfaith Engagement at OU Advocacy. At OUA, Elie manages key initiatives aimed at strengthening Jewish advocacy and civic engagement. He oversees our collegiate LIAT (Leadership in Advocacy Training) Fellowship, the OU Attorneys Conference and network, and our missions to DC. He also works closely with our counterpart leaders and organizations in other faith communities to build stronger coalitions among faith communities.

He graduated from Brandeis University and received rabbinic ordination and a master’s in Jewish History from Yeshiva University. He most recently served as the OU’s JLIC Rabbi at Columbia University where he led the Jewish community at a time of great challenge during the post-Oct 7th protests and encampments. He led a mission of Jewish students to congress during the congressional committee hearing of Columbia’s President and coordinated meetings with House members and students. He previously served as the Assistant Rabbi at The Jewish Center in Manhattan. During his tenure there he was involved in Jewish civic engagement by moderating a debate for the City Council’s 6th District and for Manhattan’s District Attorney.
