Dear Recipient's Title and Name:
As you know, nonpublic school students make up 16 percent of students in New York State, but only receive one percent of state education funding.
I appreciate everything you have done for nonpublic schools in the past, but nonpublic school students are still getting left behind.
You have spoken about the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education to help New York students succeed and compete in the global economy. We can all agree that STEM education is the building block of our economy. But ALL our students need equal access to STEM education – no matter what kind of school they attend.
As the New York State legislature finalizes its budget, I urge you to include STEM education funding for nonpublic schools in the final budget.
New York’s nonpublic schools serve over 400,000 children from all different backgrounds and income levels. They deserve the same opportunity and chance for success.
Sincerely,
