Last night IPA staff attended Senator Hillary Clinton ‘s (D-N.Y.) reception in honor of Senator Chuck Schumer‘s (D-NY) new book Positively American: Winning Back the Middle-Class Majority One Family at a Time. The reception was held at Hunan Dynasty, a nondescript Chinese joint near the Capitol, and Sen. Schumer’s home away from home.

Although there was nothing kosher to eat, the reception itself was enjoyable. Hillary showed her humor by taking friendly jabs at some of her Senate colleagues as she discussed some of the alternate book titles she had proposed — “An Inconvenient Booth: Tales from Human Dynasty,” “‘The Audacity of Chuck Schumer’ — but that was taken,” etc. See the NYTimes story on this.

Chuck autographed books for all — including scrawling a yiddish message into Nathan Diament’s copy — which, just to indicate the nature of New York politics, Rep. Joe Crowley (a proud Irish Catholic from Queens) had no trouble reading aloud.
