Today, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, the largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization in North America joined other Jewish groups, public officials, and religious leaders in condemning the Islamic Republic of Iran for convening a conference questioning if the Holocaust happened and hosting those who deny this historical fact.

Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, UOJCA Executive Vice President and Nathan J. Diament, the Union’s Director of Public Policy stated:

“To call into question whether the Holocaust occurred desecrates both the memory of the millions of victims of the Nazis and the courage of those who survived Nazism’s horrors. It devalues the honor of the liberating soldiers and is a stain on the conscience of humanity.

“We join with religious leaders of all faiths and with public officials across the globe in refusing to allow the hate filled rhetoric of the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to pass without strong protest by people of good will and call upon all to join us in protest.

“Israel and Jews worldwide face a renewed genocidal threat from an Iran that not only pursues nuclear weapons but also supports and gives safe haven to terrorists who even now would finish Hitler’s work. Now is the time for the world to stand by its solemn, sacred promise of Never Again.”
