War and Morality

The WaPo has a piece by Laura Blumenfeld with an Iraq War vet who had been doing interrogations, and she weaves in bits from former interrogators in both Great Britain and Israel, reminding readers of the difficult paths faced by those who protect free societies against those who don’t play by the same rules.

Money quote “But interrogators for countries that pride themselves on adhering to the rule of law, such as Britain, the United States and Israel, operate in a moral war zone. They are on the front lines in fighting terrorism, crucial for intelligence-gathering. Yet they use methods that conflict with their societies’ values.”

A recent OU/IPA forum on waging moral war discussed this line, and can be seen here: http://ouradio.org/ouradio/channel/C706/
