“Yeshiva Week” in Albany

There is a tough fight to restore the 44 percent cut in aid to nonpublic schools, amounting to tens of millions of dollars.

Today, the battle was joined as TEACH NYS, of which the OU is a partner, took to the halls of New York’s capital today, to press for restoring full funding to mandated services for yeshivas and day schools.

A busload of folks – from Long Island, the Five Boroughs, Rockland, Westchester and Albany – representing modern Orthodox, chareidi and chasidic yeshivos met with dozens of individual state legislators.

Seeing their constituents making the trip up to Albany has surely made a real impact on the Members, Senators and staff. Now it’s up to them to take the next step.
