OU Advocacy-Teach NYS, the nonpartisan public policy arm of the Orthodox Union, together with the UJA-Federation of New York, is launching a 30-day campaign to push for New York State legislators to pass the Education Tax Credit bill before the end of this year’s legislative session.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo reintroduced this legislation last week as the Parental Choice in Education Act.
“Part of the game they play in Albany is everybody says ‘Oh, I‘ll vote for the bill if the bill comes to the floor,’ but they never put the bill on the floor. And I am saying to them this year: stop playing the game. This is a very important issue. Put the bill on the floor, let people vote yes or no, so their constituents know how they vote,” Cuomo told JP following the rally. “Don’t hide behind the fact that you don’t want to take a position.”
