Pundits often worry over whether senior policymakers, with all their perqs and honors, become insulated and removed from regular folks. Well, we know that this August at least one U.S. Senator – Joe Lieberman – has had the regular old experience of moving his daughter into her college dorm – YU’s Stern College.

No doubt, Sen. Lieberman will also be having the experience of receiving tuition bills….perhaps there will be some benefit from that experience to many more Americans if he, and other Senators, can translate that experience into enactment of some tax relief for parents of college students.
